Round 2 of Monster Energy Supercross – Supercross Class – Phoenix, AZ

Ryan Dungey grabbed the Nuclear cowboys holeshot with Villopoto back in about fifth place and Stewart in the very back. With not even the first lap finished, the simple sand section claimed one of its few victims of the night one being Ryan Villopoto. He would be set back to about eighteenth and would have to start his charge to the front. Within the next few laps Stewart passed a handful of riders and could see Reed not far from him.

By lap  five, it was definite that Villopoto’s afterburners were on as he was already up to tenth. At the same time Stewart caught Reed and they were going back and forth for nearly a whole lap. Just as Stewart started to put on a charge to look for a podium position, he came into the sand section a little off balance, tap Short’s rear tire and fell in the exact same spot as Villopoto did earlier in the race. On lap eight and nine Villopoto closes in on Reed, makes the pass, and moves on to pass Metcalfe to put himself into sixth. Moving forward to lap 16, Villopoto is busy working on a ten second gap between him and Windham and puts in the fastest lap of the race, Stewart breaks top ten, and Reed makes a five star pass on Canard and Short at one time.  On the final lap Villopoto finally catches Windham and makes a block pass for the final podium position. Dungey put on a clinic just as Villopoto did last week to take the win, while Wiemer took a quite second, Villopoto third, Windham fourth and Reed Taking the fifth Spot.

Dungey grabs a great start as Stewart and Reed come together.

Villopoto was a mad man after picking it up in dead last. He would catch third (Kdub) and make a last lap pass for the final podium position.
