Top 10 of 2011 – Supercross
In 2011 insidermx.com snapped off over 100,000 photos, including the 2011 Supercross season, Amateur Nationals and the 2011 Outdoor Nationals. With so many photos we felt we couldn’t just limit our self to just a top 10. So we broke it down to Supercross, Amateurs and Outdoors. We are going to toss you our top 10 photos from 2011 for each of those categories and hopefully some good stories to go with it!

Two hours later from the time this photo was taken, Reed would be raising his hands for another reason. Reed had been building steam up by the time the series hit Atlanta, he took a win in the rain at SD and had a great battle with Stewart back in Texas one round later. I snapped this photo during opening ceremonies and to this day is still my favorite photo from 2011.

You rarely get to use natural lighting during the east coast Supercross races. For some odd reason though the dome opened up just enough at Reliant Stadium in Houston Texas for Round 13 of the series. It was perfect as 450 A practice just shot onto the track and the cameras went crazy as everyone was trying to grab anything they could. This is my favorite shot from the night. Who knew that same jump would be the one that would take Kdub out while in the lead main later that night.

I took this shot of Trey in Oakland at round 4 of the Supercross season. While sitting in the press box during opening ceremonies I had a last minute urge to take a few shots. Well the urge was worth it as I came out with my favorite shot of Trey and a wallpaper that I still use today on my laptop.

Pink was everywhere for the second go around at Anaheim. Matt snapped this beauty off at the right time as all 4 flame spots were firing. It came out great and landed it’s self in the fourth spot of this countdown.

Houston was good to me, picture wise. Roczen had been throwing nasty whips the entire season and for some reason I was just never set up to get a shot of it. Well it all changed in Houston when I snapped this baby off during 450 A practice Roczen, he let of a nice whip for my camera on his KTM 350. It was worth the wait!

Being able to capture the entire sequence was pretty amazing. It was at a very crucial time in the series and will always be remember as one of the crazy times during the season. Stewart lost control through the whoops, which led him into a wide open uncontrollable moment straight into the guy who had cheap shot him back in Atlanta. Reed was caught completely off guard and had road rash all up and down him from the accident. Stewart wasn’t banged up bad, but his bike was peeing out antifreeze for the last 10 or so laps. It was amazing Stewart’s bike didn’t blow up and finished the race.

The finish line at Daytona was a hot bed for big whips and good photos. Trey lit it up at the perfect time for me and my camera, helping my grab this baby.

Jason just had been landed on by Stewart after coming up short on a jump in front of him. Thomas had no idea I was taking the photo, but I suppose at the time he had no idea what just happened either. Needless to say I never thought my best photo of Jason Thomas would be of him sitting on the ground.

It’s all about the start when it’s raining. Chad knew that and grab it along with his first win of the season. He had an amazing night, us on the other hand lost some socks and shoes to the rain. Then we couldn’t travel home due to iced over roads and a dead car battery. Would do it all over again if I could.

Team mates Dean Wilson and Blake Baggett share a champagne shower after a good night in Atlanta. Any photographer who is willing to risk their equipment and clothes to get the shot is usually rewarded with a good shot and that was the case in this photo. Ashley left with the taste of champagne, not only from the bottles but from the great photo!
