After getting a 3rd place start behind Metcalfe and Dungey, Reed followed Dungey around Metcalfe and it looked as if a battle might shape up between the two. After a small crash that set Reed back a bit, Reed seemed content to ride around in 2nd. However, Reed got a gift in the form of a bike malfunction with Dungey, and inherited the lead with a few laps to go, and ended up taking the overall with a 1-1 on the day.

After a 2nd place start, and a quick pass on teammate Metcalfe, Dungey looked like he had the race win in hand, but once again we got reminded that anything can happen in motocross, and it did, this time to Dungey, who’s bike locked up on the backside of the track, handing the lead and the win to the #22 of Reed. After a 2nd in the first moto, this win would have given Dungey the overall, but instead he lost valuable points to Reed. Dungey will have to come out swinging at the next round at Highpoint.

Finishing 2nd in the moto and 2nd overall for the day is JGR’s Davi Millsaps. Davi had good starts in both moto’s, and never seemed to fade. Davi was also the only one jump from the sand wall into the whoops this moto. Is this the start of an upswing for the #18? If this weekend is any indication, we would say so.

Finishing 3rd in the moto is Brett Metcalfe, a much better weekend than he had here last year where he got dehydrated. It seems like Brett has all that figured out now, and he had a great weekend here at Freestone, holeshoting the 2nd moto. That makes two Australians on the podium!

Ricky Deitrich took 5th in the second 450 moto, and was even applying pressure to the #24 of Brett Metcalfe in the closing stages of the race. With the temperatures well above 90, Ricky proved that he doesn’t fade late in the moto, even when faced with conditions like we have here today in Texas. The off-road racer turned mx’er is showing everyone that he is a true contender for top 5 spots.

Villopoto finished 6th in the second 450 moto, giving him 3rd overall for the weekend. Villopoto had to recover from a mistake shortly after the start, which put him right around the 10th place mark. He made some quick passes early on, and charged till the end. However, Villopoto was a no-show to the podium, not sure what happened there. Either way, not a bad weekend for the #2.

After a DNF in the first moto, anything would be better for the #14 of Kevin Windham. in the second 450 moto, Kevin got a bad start and had to work his way back up to the front, finishing the race in 9th.

After holeshotting and finishing 5th in the first moto, Christian Craig was looking to do that same thing in moto 2, but it wasn’t to be, as Craig would get a bad start and have to work his way up, as well as getting passed by Andrew Short, who also suffered a bad start. Craig would finish up in 8th for that moto.
