Mad Skills Motocross: Keep or Delete?

When I found out that I was going to get to do a review on the new iPhone app, Mad Skills Motocross, I got excited. I have the computer version of this game on my laptop at school, and I was anxious to see if the iPhone version was going to be just as good. The side scrolling motocross game features 50+ tracks, ranging in difficulty from easy to extremely difficult, and has a handful of cool power-ups to get you through the tracks faster. Here’s a run down of the game, and what I thought about it.

Graphics: 4 of 5

The graphics on this game are quite good, especially for a phone. The menu is well designed, and the game features a variety of backgrounds and different dirt types, so the environment never gets boring. For a phone application, the graphics are really good.

Variety: 3.5 of 5

This game features 50+ tracks, all with different difficulties, and challenges all their own. No two tracks are the same, and you never know what the next track could be like. As you go through the game, you get power-up’s, and new extras for your bike to help you get through the track faster. However, if you have played the computer version, you will notice that most of the tracks are the same.

Performance: 4 of 5

We all have downloaded apps that make out phones go slow, and that’s never any good, and is always frustrating. I have a iPhone 3G. That’s right. Not even 3GS. Just 3G. That being said, lots of apps seem to make my phone go slow, so I was kinda worried about MSM doing the same thing. However, it seems to run fairly fine on my old phone, and only seems to stutter at the beginning of races. If you have a newer phone, most likely you won’t encounter any problems.

Fun: 4 of 5

This game is tons of fun, and is a great way to pass time, like say, in school. You can race against a computer, or you can try and beat your best lap time in the Time Attack mode. This keeps you looking for new and creative ways to get over the jumps and to the finish before your ghost! I love playing this game, and it keeps me entertained, so I would definitely say it is fun.
